Counting visitors without following them
This website sets no cookies. We still know how many people visit it, which pages they read and where they come from. The two go together — you only have to be willing to do without a few numbers you do not need anyway.
Where the numbers come from
Every web server writes a log: time, page requested, browser identifier, referring page. That arises technically anyway and is stated in our privacy policy. Our statistics read this log every fifteen minutes. Nothing runs in the visitor's browser for it — no script, no pixel, nothing an ad blocker would have to block.
How requests become visitors without recognising anyone
From the address, the browser identifier, a secret random key and today's date the statistics form a short value — the same visitor produces a different one tomorrow. Someone who comes three times today counts once today. Whether the same person returns tomorrow the statistics cannot know, and should not. A day's short values are deleted after two days.
What is missing — on purpose
No recognition across days, no time on site per person, no “user journey”, no matching with other services. We filter out search engines and other automated requests by their identifier as well as possible; a remainder always stays, and we do not dress it up.
What a business gets out of it
The questions that matter in practice — do people read the pricing page? Do they come through search or through the QR code on the flyer? Is the English version worth it? — are answered completely by these statistics. Without a cookie banner, because nothing is stored in the browser and nobody is recognised again. For our clients it is available as the module “Visitor statistics without cookies”; it runs on the same server as the website.
